The Punjab School Education Board came into existence through a legislative enactment in November 1969 for the development of the promotion of school education in the state of Punjab. The scope of the functions of table is very comprehensive and covers various aspects of school education . There are several functions, structure and activities of the Board. Some of them are to make arrangements for the proper conduct of public competition at school level. Currently, the board is responsible for conducting examinations in the East , tuition and higher secondary level . Another important function is to establish curricula and courses from India and textbooks for school education . The board even part of full-fledged academic wing , with subject matter experts in all major subjects. The primary responsibility of this meeting is to prepare and review the curriculum and to prepare textbooks accordingly. Adding , the board also makes the necessary preparations for the compilation , improvement, publication and printing of textbooks prescribed for students. Over the years efforts have been made to the board to bring about a qualitative improvement in school education .
